The FSB of Russia distributed a video of the detention of two Russians who were preparing attacks on New Year's holidays in St. Petersburg, writes BBC.

FSB officers ransacked the apartment of the detainees and found there a box with cartridges, knives, wires, sets of black clothes with sunglasses. In another video, circulated by the security services, the man swears an oath of allegiance to the Islamic State (IS) terrorist organization.

According to the FSB, now the detainees give confession statements.

Based on information previously received from American partners, two Russian citizens were detained on December 27. They planned to commit terrorist acts in St. Petersburg on New Year's holidays.

The detainees seized evidence proving their guilt. The Investigative Committee instituted criminal proceedings against the accused under three articles: “Preparation for the commission of a crime”, “Terrorism” and “Participation in the activities of a terrorist organization”.

According to the head of the FSB, this work is carried out in an "active manner" and is of a "comprehensive nature." He noted that "other services of the countries of the Commonwealth (CIS), European states and countries of the Middle East" are also connected to it.

“Moscow, in turn, also provides its partners with information “on any manifestations and threats” faced by FSB officers,” Bortnikov emphasized. He recalled that Russia helped in the investigation of the terrorist attack during the Boston Marathon.

The head of state emphasized that behind every prevented terrorist attack are saved human lives. The President noted the clear work of the special services, thanks to which large-scale international events were held in Russia without incident.

At the same time, Putin indicated that work should be improved in a number of areas. “This, first of all, again refers to the anti-terror. Terrorism is an insidious and dangerous enemy. The fight against him should continue systematically and decisively with the strict coordination of the NAC (National Anti-Terrorism Committee, "the president said. He emphasized the importance of preventing terrorism, preventive and offensive operations.

Also, during a telephone conversation, both presidents discussed issues of mutual concern.
