Problems with supplies were solved, but empty shelves remained: why there are not enough goods in American stores

As the pandemic continues, some shoppers worry that they may not be able to find what they want in the store. And although distributors say there is no shortage of products, store shelves are still half empty. Writes about it Hawaii new snow.

Food distributors said there was no shortage of food and the shelves were empty due to a shortage of workers.

“The shortages you're seeing on the shelves right now are caused more by temporary labor shortages than by food shortages,” said Chad Buck, CEO and owner of the Hawaii Foodservice Alliance.

This is due to the fact that workers who became infected during the recent outbreak omicron, and their close colleagues have been quarantined for 10 days and do not go to work.

Some products were in short supply due to supply chain problems, Buck said. But basic foodstuffs such as milk, meat and bread are sufficient, he said.

Buck believes the staffing shortage, which is not limited to the food business, is temporary.

He said a recent decision by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the state to cut the quarantine time from 10 to five days will allow workers to return to work faster.
