He came to collect the debt: in New York, the tenant killed the owner of the house, dropping him from the stairs
A man from Queens (New York) was arrested on charges of being linked to the death of his landlord, which occurred shortly after the rent dispute. Writes about this ABC News.
The incident occurred on Sunday, January 12, at about 14:30 p.m. when the 71-year-old Edgar Moncayo went to the house he owned to collect his rental debt from his 22-year-old tenant Alex Garces.
“The guy pushed my father so violently that he flew away from the front door and onto the concrete sidewalk,” said the victim’s daughter, Cristina Moncayo.
The incident was captured on a doorbell video. It shows Moncayo standing at the front door and talking on a cell phone on the porch of the house when Garces, who was inside the house, briefly went out.
Garces pushed Moncayo with such force that the man fell down the steps and onto the sidewalk below where he banged his head, Queens County Attorney Melinda Katz said.

“We didn't expect this to ever happen. “It’s like a dream, like a nightmare,” said Mokayo’s grandson. “He was a hard-working man who had three daughters and several grandchildren.”
According to prosecutors, Moncayo suffered a head injury and died in a hospital.
Garces is accused of first-degree manslaughter, second-degree reckless killing and second-degree assault. The judge set a bail of $ 50.
According to the Moncayo family, Garces created problems and threatened to leave the property without paying anything. Garcés also missed paying rent for at least a month when Edgar Moncayo decided to go to him.
Moncayo’s grandson said his grandfather even reduced Garces’s rent from $ 400 to $ 200 per month to help the tenant.
“I was very surprised because I saw him yesterday around 13 p.m. and he was alive,” said neighbor Sergio Luna.
Moncayo's daughter said her father’s organs would be donated. Garcés faces up to 25 years in prison.
