'Skin Printer' and Deliver Robops: Main Trends at CES-2019 in Las Vegas

From 8 to 11 in January, the annual CES 2019 exhibition was held in Las Vegas, which is considered one of the main events in the world of modern consumer technology.

At CES, large companies and small startups exhibit new finished products or concepts for future devices using revolutionary technologies. Editions TJ 11 gathered the most interesting technologies and devices shown at the exhibition.

Q System One - IBM's first compact quantum computer

Unlike other quantum computers, Q System One is not only for scientific, but also for commercial use. During a presentation at CES, IBM Research Director Arvind Krishna said that the new system is crucial for taking quantum computing outside the laboratories.

The device is a sealed cube made of borosilicate glass 1,27 cm thick - it is required to maintain the temperature. IBM did not show a working prototype at CES, but claims that one of the computers is already being used for experiments. In 2019, the company plans to sell the power of Q System One to business customers.

"Leather Printer" by Procter & Gamble

Procter & Gamble showed off the Opté device at CES, which can automatically cover problem skin. To do this, the device uses a high-speed camera: it looks for areas of skin that are different from the rest of the face, after which a special serum is applied to them.

Opté is an inkjet printer, but instead of ink, it contains a foundation with minerals and a moisturizer. The device applies it only to problem areas, and P&G claims that with regular use, defects disappear completely. Opté will go on sale in 2020, but its price is still unknown.

Samsung Modular TV

Samsung introduced the modular TV The Wall, whose size is limited only by the number of units. The presentation showed a prototype with a diagonal 219 inches, but in theory it can be any.

Each unit of the device is made by MicroLED technology, using LEDs of several microns in size. The Wall supports 8K-resolution and uses artificial intelligence to stretch 4K-pictures without loss of quality. While this is a prototype - the price and date of start of sales are unknown.

Simultaneous translator in Google Assistant

During CES, Google presented a large-scale update of the Assistant - it also received the ability to simultaneously translate from 27 languages, including Russian. The function is activated using the phrase "Google translator with <language name>" - after that the device will begin to translate the speech of the conversation participants in turn.

The first to access the new feature Assistant will be the owners of the “smart” columns of Google Home Hub. Along with the advent of simultaneous translation by Google announced new devices with assistant support, including both traditional speakers from other manufacturers, as well as tablets and smart displays.

LG TV Roll Up

LG showed Signature TV with 65-inch OLED-screen, which rolls into a roll - when folded, it looks like a small stand. The screen extends in a few seconds at the touch of a button and is designed for 50 thousands of pull-out cycles.

The display has several modes of operation, it can not be fully nominated. In the half unfolded state, it shows movies in 21: 9 format, and in the small strip state, it shows the weather or player. Sales of the device start at the end of 2019 of the year, its price is still unknown, but the TV is in the premium segment.

The car from Hyundai, which can walk on four legs

Hyundai introduced the Elevate car that can walk. If necessary, the wheels of the car are extended and turned into “legs”. Due to this Elevate can overcome high obstacles and bumps. The company argues that in the cabin during the "walk" as comfortable as in a normal car.

The device is powered by electricity and is able to go up to 35 kilometers. So far this is only a concept - the company has not shown a prototype and has not named the dates for its release.

Household appliances manufacturer Whirlpool showed on CES Whirlpool Oven Wall Oven oven with integrated augmented reality. During cooking, the device displays useful tips and recommendations on how to prepare various dishes on the glass.

To display the elements of augmented reality, a transparent 27-inch LCD screen was embedded in the oven door. Inside the device there is also a camera that allows you to control the cooking process and even, if necessary, enlarge the image without opening the door. While Whirlpool Connected Hub Wall Oven is just a concept, the company has not announced a possible device release date or price.

Active noise cancellation system for cars from Bose

With the help of several microphones and algorithms, the Bose QuietComfort system suppresses cabin noise while driving. By the idea companies with the spread of electric vehicles such technology will be increasingly in demand.

In Bose believe that when driving on electric vehicles, drivers hear more noise from the road, which is usually not heard due to the operation of the internal combustion engine. QuietComfort uses a combination of accelerometers, sound processing software, microphones and the car’s built-in audio system to create a noise reduction effect. The first cars with technology are going to be introduced by the end of 2021.

Nreal light mixed reality glasses that look like sunny

Chinese nreal showed mixed reality light glasses that look much more compact than competitors. The company managed to achieve this by using fewer sensors and cameras. CEO Xu Chi claimsthat it did not affect the quality of the picture.

The company said that the glasses allow you to interact with the environment, using minimal computing power. Despite the fact that the glasses themselves are compact, they need an external unit to which they must be permanently connected by wire. They want to start mass production of glasses in 2019, the price of the device is still unknown, but it is likely to be about a thousand dollars - almost half the development of Magic Leap and three times cheaper than Microsoft's HoloLens glasses.

Autonomous delivery with Continental robops and self-driving machines

Continental Company presented The concept of autonomous delivery, which is carried out by robops and self-driving machines. To this end, it is proposed to use robops in conjunction with self-guided machines. Cars must take the robots to the delivery address, and those must deliver the package to the door.

During the exhibition, journalists were held a demonstration the last stage of delivery. Robopos climbed the stairs, rang the doorbell and left the package. Journalists are not very inspired by the demonstration: in the edition of The Verge concept have been named “The strangest delivery system”, because the robot did everything slowly.

"Simplified" virtual reality glasses from HTC

HTC presented Vive Cosmos headset, which works without external tracking devices and can be compatible with a smartphone. In the future, the helmet can be used without wires, but so far an external computing unit, for example, a computer, is required.

HTC claims that the Vive Cosmos is the easiest and most customizable VR headset. When the device will be on sale and how much it will cost is still unknown.
