Prigozhin met with Putin after the coup attempt: they discussed 'employment options'

The founder of Wagner PMC, Yevgeny Prigozhin, met with Russian President Vladimir Putin shortly after the military mutiny he organized. Writes about it Meduza.

Press Secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov confirmed that such a meeting took place.

According to him, the meeting took place on June 29 and lasted almost three hours, and 35 people attended.

“The President gave an assessment of the company’s actions at the front during the “special military operation” (this is how the full-scale invasion of Ukraine is called in the Russian Federation), and also gave his assessment of the events of June 24. Putin listened to the explanations of the commanders and offered them further options for employment and further combat use. The commanders themselves outlined their version of what happened, they emphasized that they were staunch supporters and soldiers of the head of state and the supreme commander in chief, and also said that they were ready to continue to fight for their homeland, ”Peskov said.

The meeting was also attended by the head of the Russian Guard, Viktor Zolotov, and the head of the Foreign Intelligence Service, Sergei Naryshkin.

On July 6, Alexander Lukashenko announced that Prigozhin was in St. Petersburg. At the same time, Peskov said that the Kremlin had "neither the desire nor the opportunity" to follow the movements of the founder of the Wagner PMC.

Directly on the day of Putin's meeting with Prigozhin - June 29 - Peskov told reporters that he did not know where Prigozhin was.

The meeting was first reported by the French newspaper Liberation, citing Western intelligence sources.
