California Governor invites women from other regions to abortion
California Governor Gavin Newsom addressed women who want an abortion but live in states where they are forbidden: "Come to California."

On Friday, May 31, Newsom issued a proclamation. It talks about easy access to abortions in his state, including the use of state funds to end a pregnancy in accordance with subsidized health insurance plans for disadvantaged people.
“California will continue to support women's equality and freedom by protecting their reproductive freedom, informing Californians of their rights, welcoming women to California to fully respect their reproductive rights, and serving as a model for other states,” Newsom said.

US law prohibits states from using federal money for this purpose.
The proclamation appeared after a number of states, including Alabama, Missouri, Kentucky, Ohio, Mississippi and Georgia, took action against abortion, which either severely restrict or prohibit abortion after detecting fetal heartbeat (6 week of pregnancy).
The abortion law in Alabama especially outraged activists for choosing a woman because it prohibits the procedure in almost all cases, even in cases of rape.
Newsom joined his fellow Democratic Party governors in Oregon and Washington, sending a letter in which he called on other states to increase protection for abortion and access to contraceptives and sex education.

The California Governor's rating jumped on this issue as part of his re-election political campaign in the 2022 year.
US President Donald Trump also opposes abortion and calls their restriction a priority for the Republican party.
