President of Ukraine Zelensky dismissed the ambassador to the United States

President Vladimir Zelensky dismissed the ambassador of Ukraine to the United States, Valeriy Chaly, writes Ukrainian Truth.

“To release Chaly Valeriy Alekseevich from the post of Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to the United States of America, as well as from the posts of Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to Antigua and Barbuda and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago concurrently,” says one of documents.

According to presidential aide Andrei Yermak, replacing the Ukrainian ambassador to the US is needed to reset relations between countries, writes New time.

“I fully support this decision. Ukrainian-US relations should reflect and take into account the position of President Zelensky. Ukraine should become a mutually beneficial strategic partner for the United States. Naturally, this all presupposes another person in the place of the Ukrainian ambassador to the United States, ”he said.

According to Yermak, at the moment, work is under way to find a new Ukrainian ambassador to the United States.

“The president is very attentive to the choice of candidates. He does not make chaotic decisions. The president for all key appointments prefers, in addition to the information received, to hold a personal meeting, to understand for himself what kind of person he is, the level of his professionalism and motivation, ”he concluded.

Valeriy Chaly commented on the completion of his four-year cadence as the ambassador of Ukraine to the USA. He wrote about this in his Facebook.

The diplomat said that four years is enough time to demonstrate “a worthy result in an important foreign policy area.”

“I will return to Ukraine with deep gratitude to my compatriots, with whom we fought for democracy against authoritarianism and continue to fight for a bright future for an independent and successful Ukraine against Russia’s attempts to drag us into the Soviet or imperial past. I will return with the gratitude of the people of the United States - now truly our strategic partner, with new opportunities, with enormous support from Ukrainians on both sides of the Atlantic, with pride for Ukraine and our Heroes,” wrote Chaly.

He also noted that there is still a lot of work ahead and a lot of effort needs to be made in order to make irreversible “the historical Euro-Atlantic path that we have chosen and for which Ukrainians paid a huge price - thousands of lives of our Heroes.”

Among the most important achievements over 4 years at the embassy are: Pompeo’s Crimean Declaration (non-recognition of the US annexation of Crimea), the Memorandum of Cooperation between the Verkhovna Rada and the US Congress, the Law “On Countering America’s Adversaries Due to Sanctions”, the consistent increase in sanctions pressure on the Russian Federation, a significant contribution in the defense capability of Ukraine, expanding economic cooperation, in particular increasing American investment to $1 billion.

Valery Chaly was appointed ambassador to the US on July 10 of the year 2015. Prior to that, he was deputy head of the presidential administration.
