Turned a synagogue into a disco: in New York sued the rabbi
The parishioners of the historic synagogue in Manhattan sued the rabbi for turning the house of worship into a disco and told the believers to "go to hell" when they began to complain. Now they require $ 21 million.
According to the New York Post, the lawsuit was filed in the Supreme Court of Manhattan by five members of the Emunath Israel Congregation in Chelsea.
The lawsuit alleges that Rabbi Yehezekel Wolf refused the agreement, according to which he rents the building in which the synagogue is located on West 23rd Street, in exchange for payment of running costs and repair costs. The deal was made in 2012 year and until the end of 2018 year.
Вместо этого Вольф выломал старые скамьи из 100-летнего здания и отключил обогрев в зимнее время, чтобы «убить конгрегацию», — утверждается в иске.
The lawsuit says that Wolf rents a synagogue to people who organize parties and so loudly turn on the music that the neighbors have to call the police.
The rabbis are also accused of using the synagogue for secular receptions and art exhibitions.
Wolf allegedly destroyed plaques to victims of the Holocaust, since they did not harmonize with social events.
«Я предполагаю, что мемориальные таблички погибшим людям не соответствует тому, чтобы сдать в аренду место для дискотек», — сказала Илла Глаубер, одна из истцов.
Post received a record in which Wolf called the parishioners "crazy people."
«Я не могу думать об этих людях, — слышно его голос. — Я не хочу знать о них. Я не хочу думать о них. Все должны идти в ад».
In another post, as reported, Wolf advises that the council of the synagogue "pull f *** out of here."
Glauber said: “Does the rabbi use these words in a letter? I have never heard of it in my whole life. ”
Wolf declined to comment on the lawsuit.
