'Holiday from Hell': Mystical Fjord Cruise Ends with Passengers Riot

Passengers of the luxury liner rebelled after their cruise turned into a "holiday from hell."

Despite such a welcome vacation, passengers described the two-week cruise as “the worst trip ever.” It all started after the ship that sailed from Southampton on 27 of September did not dock in Amsterdam due to strong winds.

The captain sent the liner to Norway, where the ship moored in the "abandoned" city, which, as it turned out, was closed to tourists, and the famous fjords could only be seen from a distance.

The stop in Reykjavik was canceled and replaced with a trip to Greenock, near Glasgow, but the 900-foot ship was denied mooring, and the captain decided instead to go to Belfast.

By this point, the passengers had endured three days at sea, and the ship's sewage system had broken down. Many passengers said the food at the restaurants was "stale".

Resentment followed after the American operator Norwegian Cruise Line refused full refund and offered passengers only an 25 percent voucher for a future cruise.

Many passengers left the ship after stopping in Belfast, and decided to head back to London.

The 76-ton Norwegian Spirit offers guests 17 restaurants, including a steakhouse and a Japanese restaurant, 12 bars and lounges, a casino, a spa, a theater, a fitness center and a water park for children. Luxurious suites cost up to 5300 pounds ($ 6 592) per person and include a living room, dining room and separate bedroom, as well as 24-hour butler and concierge services. Cabin prices start at £ 1799 ($ 2 237) for “internal” rooms, and ocean view rooms with a balcony exceed £ 2000 ($ 2 487).

A spokeswoman for the Norwegian Cruise Line said: "The Norwegian Spirit is forced to cancel its journey to Greenock due to weather conditions, as well as due to the delay caused by the ship of the Navy, which broke."
