Primaries in New York: Trump is on the record, and Hillary - as usual

Leaders of the presidential election race Republican Donald Trump and Democrat Hillary Clinton won a landslide victory over the primaries of their parties in the state of New York.

The counting of votes has not yet been completed (98% votes have been processed), but according to the available data, the picture is as follows:

In New York, Trump scored more than 60 percent of the vote and is leading among the three presidential candidates from the Republican Party.

In second place was Ohio Governor John Keysik, who received more than 25 percent of the vote.

Texas Senator Ted Cruz took only third place, receiving less than 15 percent.

On a map published The New York Times, counties that voted for Trump are marked in red, and for Kasich in blue.

“By and large, the race is over,” said Trump, speaking at a winning rally in the lobby of the Manhattan skyscraper named after him.

A Texas senator called Trump's success no more than a “political victory in his home state,” after which he called on Republicans to unite around his candidacy.

Clinton's victory allowed her to increase the gap between her rival Bernie Sanders, depriving him of the important opportunity to close the gap. Ex-Secretary of State won 57,9 percent of votes, while Sanders 42,1 percent.

On a map published The New York Times, districts in which the majority voted for Hillary Clinton are marked in blue, and in green - for Sanders.

“The race for the nomination is in the home stretch, and victory is in sight,” Clinton told cheering supporters. “Thank you, New York. You trusted me 16 years ago, and again today. I will never stop fighting for you,” Clinton tweeted.

"We have a chance to win," said Sanders in an interview with the Associated Press. “We have come a very long way in the last 11 months, and we will fight to the end of this process.”
