A program has appeared that will ruin your Zoom meeting if you are tired of the meeting

Do you have a lot of Zoom meetings and are already very tired, but you can’t reschedule the meeting? There is a way out. The Zoom Escaper app is a free web widget that allows you to add a variety of fake sound effects to your Zoom call, thereby creating reasons for you to leave the conversation. You can choose from barking dogs, construction noise, crying babies, or even more subtle effects like choppy sound and unwanted echoes. Zoom Escaper, created by Sam Lavin, is fantastically easy to use. All you have to do is download free audio software called VB-Audio, which routes your audio through a website, then change the Zoom audio input from microphone to VB-Audio and play with the effects.

If you use the Zoom Escaper, you don't actually hear the sound effects. But Verge editor Haim Gartenberg checked them out. Here's his take on the various Zoom Escaper effects:

• Urination: “It sounds very fake. Also, I'm not really sure how it can be used to leave the call? "
• Building: “It looks like you are literally standing in the middle of a construction site. I think the sound should be a little more muted, but it's very good. "
• Crying man: “These are the sobs of a broken man. But who’s crying—the roommate, the partner?”
• Bad connection: “This one works really well. The sound is interrupted and interrupted. "
• Echo: “Very annoying and very convincing. Sounds like a broken Zoom connection. If this happened to the person with whom I am talking, I would advise you to fix it. It is impossible to hold a meeting with such a sound. "
• Wind: "Hardly anyone would believe that you have a stormy wind in your office or at home."
• Dog: “It sounds very real—like a dog barking outside.”
• Crying baby: “The child looks decently upset. This is definitely something you should go and check. "

A “crying baby” is the most forgivable reason for refusing a call, but in this case you need to make people believe that you have a child. And if you're willing to pretend to have a baby to avoid Zoom meetings with co-workers, then you might have bigger work problems than a few annoying video meetings.

Zoom Escaper is not the creator's first project in which people simulate something on the computer. His 2017 work The Good Life allowed users to sign up to receive 225 letters confiscated from Enron during its 000 collapse, while 2001's Slow Hot Computer is a website that makes your computer run slower and get hotter.

“Use this at work to reduce your productivity,” says Lavigne.

If the Zoom Escaper isn't for you, there's the Zoom Deleter, another of Lavigne's creations. As he writes, it's just a small program that runs in the menu bar or taskbar: "It constantly checks for the presence of Zoom on your computer and, if detected, immediately removes it."

Lavigne describes the core spirit of his art as follows: "Deliberate slowdown, performance degradation and sabotage."
