After shooting in California, Airbnb has banned house rentals for parties

Airbnb, a worldwide company for accommodation, search, and short-term rental housing, has banned apartment rentals for parties after five people were killed in a rented house in California. Writes about this with the BBC.

Company head Brian Chesky said on Twitter that Airbnb will take steps to prevent parties not allowed by homeowners.

On October 31, in a house that was rented in the city of Orinda near San Francisco, three people died as a result of the shooting, two more died later in the hospital from injuries.

The house was supposedly rented for a small group of guests, and then on Instagram they began to advertise it as the venue for the Halloween party. This attracted more than 100 people to the house. The owner of the house did not give permission to hold a party.

All the dead were younger than 30 years. Police failed to arrest or identify suspects. Two pistols were found in the house.

The head of Airbnb said that the company will more carefully check the reservation of houses with high risk. Airbnb, which plans to issue its shares publicly in 2022, intends, according to Cersky, to prosecute those who violate its rules.

In response to the next massacre, California Governor Gavin Newsome called on Congress to tighten arms laws.

“What happened Thursday night in Orinda was terrible. I express my condolences to the loved ones of the victims and the neighbors affected by this tragedy. We will do everything to support them,” said the head of Airbnb.
