Vatican ambassador in France accused of harassment

Vatican Ambassador to France Luigi Ventura is accused of indecent behavior and harassment. And this is not the first case in the Vatican, as even Pope Francis stated.

74-year-old cleric accused of sexual harassment of a junior employee of the Paris City Hall on the day of the official meeting of the mayor with diplomats 17 January, writes Air force.

One City Hall official told Reuters that Archbishop Ventura "repeatedly and in a persistent manner" stroked the buttocks of a young employee who greeted him.

Archbishop Ventura served as ambassador for 10 years. Ambassadors traditionally attend the Paris Mayor’s New Year’s address to diplomats, civil society representatives and religious leaders.

Representatives of the archbishop refused to comment on what happened.

Among the known cases of sexual violence against nuns are incidents in India, several countries in Latin America, France and Italy. Vatican's internal publications, in particular Women Church World, mentioned in 2018 a few cases in which nuns performed abortions or gave birth to children conceived by priests.

In recent years, the Catholic Church has experienced several scandals related to the harassment of priests against children. Pope Francis has repeatedly confirmed the intention to open such cases and not hush up them.

In particular, the loud scandal associated with the corruption of children by priests, occurred in the United States. The investigation found that more than 300 Catholic priests working in the state of Pennsylvania for the past 70 years, corrupted more than a thousand children, and their actions were covered by the church elite.
