Poroshenko lost: the conclusions after the presidential debate in Ukraine

Ze became the voice of the people. He asked Poroshenko the questions that most Ukrainians, who are so unanimously supporting Zelensky, would like to ask the president.

However, Ze did not receive a clear answer from the current president. It is even strange that Poroshenko’s electoral headquarters didn’t prepare him for the discussion at the stadium. Poroshenko had nothing to cover. His persistent attempts to appeal to Zelensky’s inexperience were unlikely to resonate among Ze's supporters. On the contrary. The absence of a political background, non-participation in corruption schemes, and not being involved in various schemes and deribans, is obviously perceived by potential Zelensky voters as a huge positive, not a disadvantage. For Poroshenko also stretches a train of unfulfilled promises and corruption scandals. He has something to bring: an unfinished war, a collapsed hryvnia, a forgotten fight against corruption, the protection of his friends. Zelensky remembered it too.

“Why do your people have two hands?” - he asked, hinting at Poroshenko’s promise to cut off the hands of corrupt officials. Poroshenko retorted: “Not one – I emphasize – not one of my friends has or will have anything to do with corruption. As soon as there is any reasonable suspicion, he will cease to be my friend and the culprit will go to prison. It doesn’t matter if it’s a friend or a partner.” Pyotr Alekseevich has a short memory, as it turns out.

Just a few weeks ago, a major scandal erupted in connection with the fact that Poroshenko’s inner circle was laundering and offshoring millions of the scandalous young oligarch of the times of Yanukovich Sergey Kurchenko. GPU Prosecutor Konstantin Kulik raised suspicions to nearly a hundred people, and among them - the ex-head of the Presidential Administration of Ukraine Boris Lozhkin, the ex-head of the NBU Valeria Gontareva, the current deputy head of the APU Alexey Filatov. Tomos is a victory, but Philaret, who fought for the Ukrainian church at a time when you were a member of the Moscow Patriarchate. And the army. This is a feat of the Ukrainian people. ”

During the debates, it constantly seemed that Poroshenko, who was not accustomed to listening to the truth from ordinary people, was simply stunned by what was said from the stage. He had nothing to oppose. He always tried to use a jaded stamp about the connections of Zelensky and businessman Igor Kolomoisky. At the same time, forgetting that it was Kolomoisky in 2014 that year, when there was a threat of the spread of the armed conflict initiated by Putin in the east of Ukraine, agreed to become the head of the Dnipropetrovsk administration and did not allow the creation of another banana quasi-republic there. Dnepropetrovsk at Kolomoisky became a stronghold for the Ukrainian fighters, helping with issues of armaments, and with the treatment of wounded soldiers. But in the heat of the election race, Pyotr Alekseevich can recognize the achievements of other people, not his own.

Poroshenko at the debate at the stadium, obviously, was uncomfortable. Many of his statements were accompanied by fukan and shouts of "Shame." I wonder if he thought five years ago that he would repeat the fate of his predecessors, Yanukovich and Yushchenko, who by the end of their cadences too zafukivali on stadiums?
