Poroshenko asked the United States for financial assistance to strengthen the country's defense

President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko had another telephone conversation with US Vice President Joseph Biden. As the press service of the head of the Ukrainian state, the interlocutors stressed the importance of the unity of the civilized world in support of Ukraine.

“This is not only about the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine. If we do not win, then geopolitical cataclysms are waiting for the world, ”Poroshenko believes.

The interlocutors also discussed the process of providing Washington assistance to strengthen the defense capability of the Ukrainian army. Poroshenko turned to Biden as the chairman of the Senate to support the relevant legislative initiative.

They also discussed the possibility of further macro-financial support for Ukraine.

In addition, Poroshenko once again expressed condolences to Biden in connection with the death of his son Bo.

“I saw that your pain was shared by all the American people, and many people around the world, also in Ukraine. I hope that this love and support will give you strength in the present difficult time to continue to serve your country, ”the president said.

Poroshenko thanked the United States for the firm position expressed during the G7 summit, which, in particular, is reflected in a statement by its leaders about a possible extension of sanctions if Russia goes further in violation of the Minsk agreements. The interlocutors discussed the importance of determining the next steps and measures in the event of a further escalation of the situation in the Donbas.

Also, the President assured the interlocutor of the irreversibility of the reform course in Ukraine, including in the fight against corruption.
