Attempt to get to the USA turned into a drama: a child separated from his family will not recognize his mother

An illegal immigrant tried to hug her son four months after they were separated at the border, but the boy refused to recognize her.

The Union of American Civil Liberties recently published in the Instagram sad scenes in which Reyes-Méjia is trying to embrace her three-year-old son, who does not recognize her and does not want to embrace her.

“My love, I am your mother, papi. “I’m your mom,” she said, standing in front of Sammy. But the boy is trying to escape his mom's arms after the family of four was reunited at George Bush International Airport in Houston on July 14.

An upset woman turns to her husband in tears and bewilderment of why their son does not recognize her when they are already together. The woman repeated to Sammy, who was creeping away from him: “Papi, I came for you, my love. What happened? Papi, I came for you. ”

In the end, Sammy embraced his mother for the first time since he and his father, Ever, left Honduras in April 2018. They fled to the United States from continued asylum-seeking violence.

Ever and Sammy got to the US border station at McCullen Bridge in Texas, where they were detained by border guards.

During his detention, Everu was told that he must complete legal documents. Dad asked if he could wake a sleeping son, but agents told him that it was not necessary. When he returned, he found that his son had disappeared. He was taken to Grand Rapids, Michigan, where immigrant minor children were detained after being separated from their families.

Reyes-Magee went to the United States in May with her daughter, but she was not shared with the baby.

During the separation, Sammy did not talk to his father when the officials gave such an opportunity, while the family did not reunite on July 10 at the ICE center in Grand Rapids.

Shortly thereafter, the father and son flew to Houston, where the moment was taken when a family of four finally met.

Recall, yesterday President Donald Trump signed a decree that prohibits border guards from separating parents and migrant childrenwho illegally crossed the US border.

Note that, according to the Department of Homeland Security, from May 5 to June 9, as a result of the family separation policy, more than 2300 children were separated from their parents.

According to ACLU, as of 23 August, 528 immigrant children still remain in custody.
