A popular dictionary has chosen the main word of 2022, and it is very sad

Collins English Dictionary has chosen "permacrisis" as the word of the year for 2022. Meduza.

The term is derived from permanent (permanent) and crisis (crisis) and means "a long period of instability and uncertainty."

"Permacrisis", a term that describes "a long period of instability and insecurity", was named Collins word of the year 2022. This is one of several words that Collins highlights that refer to the ongoing crises the UK is facing, including political instability, the war in Ukraine, climate change and the cost of living crisis. The compilers of the British dictionary note that "not only Great Britain, but the whole world" faced this.

Six words on Collins' list of ten words of the year are new to CollinsDictionary.com, including "permacrisis".
Among others, the top ten words of 2022 according to Collins also included:

• Kyiv - the name of the capital of Ukraine in a new spelling instead of the previously adopted Russian pronunciation Kiev;
• party gate - the collective name of the scandal surrounding former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson, who held parties during a pandemic;
• Carolean - an adjective referring to everything related to the new king of Great Britain, Charles III;
• warm bank - a place where citizens who cannot afford to heat their own homes can come to warm themselves;

• quiet quitting - the practice of performing the scope of work no more than stipulated by the contract.
