A popular drink at Starbucks has risen in price by $ 1: customers are furious

Starbucks is charging customers an extra dollar if they ask not to add water to their popular Refreshers fruit drinks. The changes went into effect on May 9, and fans aren't too happy. New York Post.

A Starbucks spokesperson said that the drink uses more Refresher base, leading to higher prices due to the extra liquid used.

"Starting May 9, there will be an additional $1 charge for Starbucks Refreshers drinks made without water, as it requires additional ingredients," the company said in a statement.

The ice drink is made using tropical juices, dried fruits, water, lemonade and sometimes coconut milk.

“This change allows us to provide a more consistent approach to brewing, similar to other beverage technologies such as adding a shot of espresso or syrup, which incur an additional charge. Starbucks Refreshers can still be ordered with or without ice at no additional cost,” the company added.

Customers are unhappy

Meanwhile, this new change is starting to cause worries among Starbucks employees as they worry about angry customers.

Several employees said they fear backlash from Starbucks consumers. On TikTok, a Starbucks fan named Raya shared a viral video in which she mentioned the price increase.

The video received many comments from angry customers, one of which remarked, "A company this big is worth billions of dollars and is STILL greedy for everything."

“I’m so tired, drinks are already so expensive,” another user wrote.

"It's like they're already charging $$$ for 3 sips," someone else added.

“Refreshments are the only thing that cheers me up other than coffee, but I think I'll give them up,” another user complained.

“Yes, that's true, but don't be offended by us. I’m only a barista, it’s not our fault,” one alleged employee wrote. “I won’t order there again! I buy two Refreshers at a time so they just lost a customer over this! I'm so disappointed in them! another TikTokker commented.
