Assistant Zelensky denied the testimony of a key witness in the case of impeachment trump

The recollections of Presidential Aide Andrei Yermak about the September meeting between Vladimir Zelensky and Vice President Mike Pence in Warsaw cast doubt on the credibility of the testimony of the US ambassador to the EU, Gordon Sondland.

On September 1, a meeting between Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky and US Vice President Mike Pence took place in Warsaw, recalls “Ukrainian Truth«.

In his testimony before Congress as part of the impeachment inquiry, Gordon Sondland said that after the meeting in Warsaw he “caught” Yermak and told him that there would be no US assistance to Ukraine “until Ukraine makes a public statement.”

Zelensky, in exchange for “unblocking” US assistance, allegedly had to admit that Ukraine participated in Hillary Clinton’s campaign in the 2016 elections and announce the start of an investigation into the activities of the son of US Vice President Joe Biden in Ukraine.

Trump's accusation of abuse of power, referred to in the December 3 impeachment report, is based on testimonies from witnesses, including Sondland. The document states that the US ambassador to the EU clearly stated to Ermaku the proposal quid pro quo 1 of September in Warsaw.

Yermak’s comments, as the newspaper notes, cast doubt on an important point in the version of events according to the investigation as part of impeachment.

Sondland’s contact with Yermak described in the report is the only known case when an American official informs a Ukrainian official about the dependence of US aid on a statement about specific investigations in Ukraine.
