Poland confiscated money from Russian embassy accounts
The Prosecutor's Office of Poland confiscated money from the accounts of the Russian embassy and the trade mission of the Russian Federation. This was stated by Russian Ambassador to Poland Sergei Andreev. He said that we are talking about large sums in dollars, writes Voice of America.
Andreev said that funds from the accounts of the embassy and the trade representation in Santander bank were transferred to the accounts of the Polish prosecutor's office.
The Russian diplomatic mission received a notification about this.
After that, the Santander bank announced that it had ceased cooperation with the embassy and closed the accounts. The Ambassador believes that this is a gross violation of the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations.

The accounts of the Russian embassy in Poland were blocked in March 2022, shortly after the start of Russia’s military invasion of Ukraine. The reason for the blocking was the suspicions of the Polish authorities that money from the accounts of the Russian Embassy could be used to finance terrorism or launder illegally obtained funds. In response, the Russian side also froze the accounts of the Polish embassy in Moscow.
In addition, Poland seized several real estate objects from the Russian diplomatic mission, including the building where the diplomats lived and a recreation center near Warsaw.
On May 12, 2022, Polish media reported that about 5 million zlotys, or $1,1 million, were blocked on the accounts of the Russian Embassy in Poland.
