Washington police arrest 87 protesters for DACA
Washington, DC, police arrested 87 demonstrators who supported the DACA program, protecting illegal immigrants brought to the country by children.
The meetings were timed to expire, which President Donald Trump set to complete the program, but this period was extended by the courts until the process of reviewing the legality of this decision was completed, writes CNN.
According to the police, 68 people were arrested because they blocked traffic near the Capitol, on Independence Avenue and New Jersey Avenue. Protesters there joined hands and lay down directly on the asphalt.
The officers separated the chain and asked people to wait for the arrival of police cars; 28 protesters were also charged with resisting arrest.
19 people were also arrested for trying to get into the office of Speaker Paul Ryan in the office building. Longworth House Office Building.
Both protests were peaceful, with 50-60 cops following the order at the rallies.
Protesters chanted “Undocumented! Unafraid!".
Recall Donald Trump announced the closure of the program DACA in September 2017 of the year, setting a date for its termination on March 5. But later, a court considering the legality of the presidential decision to cancel the program, said that it would be valid until the end of the trial.
