Police circled and searched the passenger-filled JetBlue at New York Airport

Police surrounded a JetBlue airplane full of passengers on the runway at Kennedy Airport, causing fear of people inside.

Initially, it was unclear why the police surrounded JetBlue flight No. XXUMX on their way to Los Angeles at New York Airport, prompting disturbing messages from passengers on social networks, writes NBC.

Later it turned out that the cause was a failure in radio communications. Aircraft JetBlue did not respond to a radio message from an air traffic controller. After a few minutes, the controller again tried to contact the crew of the aircraft, but there was no response. By the time the plane JetBlue delayed other liners preparing for takeoff. The controller again tried to contact the flight, but to no avail. After that, the dispatcher told other planes to try to get around the liner JetBlue.

Later it turned out that the plane ran into a problem with radio equipment while taxiing for departure, because of a malfunction, the airliner mistakenly sent a false alarm to the control tower JFK.

“When communications were restored through alternative channels, the airport responded with an abundance of caution. The plane was checked and returned to the gate for inspection,” the statement said. JetBlue.

The airport administration noted that after checking no security threats on the plane were revealed.

In radio communications between the police and the dispatcher, the following conversation took place:

— There is a security problem, they have problems with the radio. They can hear what is happening, but cannot respond. They are asking permission to return them back to the taxiway,” the dispatcher said.

- No. We're going to check the plane right here,” police said.

The federal aviation security administration is investigating the incident.
