A police officer who arrested a nurse for performing his duties fired
A police officer from Salt Lake City, Utah, Jeff Payne, who was handcuffed in July and pushed a screaming nurse out of the building, was fired for these actions.
The decision to dismiss was taken on October 10 after the investigation of the incident was completed, reports Fox News.
The video taken on July 26 shows how Payne, who worked as a paramedic in University Hospitalasked nurse Ubbells, a nurse, to take blood from an unconscious patient.
The nurse refused, explaining that taking a patient’s blood without his consent or a warrant for this procedure was against the hospital’s policy.
Payne's chief lieutenant James Tracy said his subordinate could arrest the nurse if she refused to take blood.
After that, the police officer told Ubels that she was arrested, handcuffed her and forcibly removed her from the hospital, at this time the nurse shouted: "I did nothing."
The Salt Lake City police later apologized for the arrest and changed the department’s blood testing policy. In addition, the police sent Payne and Tracy on paid leave until the investigation of the incident was completed.
