A policeman spent two days searching for a toy that the child had lost, and wrote a book about it.

8-year-old Augusta "Gassi" Bridges lost a plush dog at the airport in Norfolk (Virginia, USA). Two days later, the policeman returned her to her, who handed the girl a book with photos of the toy taken in completely unexpected places.

“When she said that she had lost her toy, I realized that she was about to cry. Gussie received it a few weeks ago, and she was really attached to it,” said Kelly Bridges, the girl’s mother, writes Tjournal.

Upon learning of the loss, the mother of the girl called the airport lost property office. They reported that an airport police officer had started the case of the missing plush dog.

Two days later, Gussie returned to Norfolk airport with her father. The policeman gave the girl a dog along with a “book of adventures” that the toy had been through during the owner’s absence. Over the course of two days, the stuffed animal became an honorary police officer (he was photographed in a small police uniform), rode an escalator, watched a plane fly by, and drove heavy equipment.

“I’m having so much fun, but I still miss you!” the dog wrote.

“The girl’s parents told us that she was upset about the lost toy. So the dispatcher and the police just wanted to pay special attention to the return of the toy,” says Steve Sterling, a spokesman for the Norfolk Airport Authority.

The girl's mom told about the story on her Facebook page, adding a picture from the book to this:

“It was just amazing that they did that for Gussie. I almost cried. Norfolk International Airport, you are all amazing!”
