Useful apps for booking air tickets and convenient travel
Getting around the airport, even if it's a trip you're looking forward to, almost always seems like a hassle. But if you have the necessary tools at the ready, you can make this process much more bearable. Edition Lifehacker We've rounded up some useful travel apps that are worth checking out the next time you're planning a new trip.
Best apps for booking and tracking flights
Here are apps you can use to book cheaper, better value flights and track your status before departure.
Hopper and TravelArrow
Stress-free travel starts with a great price and the app Hopper keeps track of airfare prices, and also advises when it's cheapest to buy tickets (or when to wait and when you can expect a price increase). You can also complete your search with the extension TravelArrow Chrome, which will help you decide which airline to book with.
TripIt
If you've ever booked a flight or hotel for the wrong date, or realized there were unforeseen gaps in your itinerary, use TripIt. This planning app allows you to sync all your flight, hotel, car rental and tour bookings into one itinerary. Just send to the address [email protected] any confirmation you want to display in the itinerary and the app will save all your confirmations and flight numbers in one place. Plus, the app will show all your plans in a neat timeline (along with any gaps).

The app has a free version with all the necessary features and a Pro version for $49 per year with real-time alerts and additional features.
flighty
With flight cancellations on the rise and the reluctance of many airlines to respond, it has become increasingly important to have the best flight tracking tools at your disposal.
flighty is a flight tracking app that alerts you to cancellations and delays down to the second (much faster than some airlines alert their passengers), helping you stay ahead of the curve. Additionally, the app will tell you how your flight has performed over the past couple of months, providing data on its on-time performance. You can also track other people's flights just like your own.
Although Flighty has a free, limited version, the paid version gives you all the most valuable features. Its cost is $49,99 per year or $249 for a lifetime membership. Additionally, the app can be synced with TripIt to show your itinerary in the Flighty app. If you are looking for a similar app that is completely free, check out App in the Air. Just keep in mind that App in the Air tracks changes, but doesn't have the near real-time ability to update information like Flighty. If you want a free app that only tracks flights, try FlightAware.
The best travel apps for airport navigation
If you find yourself physically at the airport, there are many apps that can help you avoid standing in lines and worrying about missing your flight. Here are the best ones.
Backup with CLEAR
You don't have to be a member of TSA's fancy PreCheck program to save time at security. You can use the application CLEAR and the free Reserve program to reserve your seat in advance and get through security much faster when flying domestically. If your path lies abroad, you can use the application Mobile Passport Controlto do the same.
LoungeBuddy
If you have access to airport lounges through one or more of the programs you participate in, you should purchase the app LoungeBuddy. It will tell you which rooms you have access to, as well as opening hours, amenities, locations, rules and more. You can also purchase access to some lounges if you have an American Express credit card.
Starbucks
application Starbucks allows you to make a mobile order in advance at several airports to avoid standing in line. If you're in a hurry and know you won't have time to stand in the usual long line at Starbucks, order your breakfast or coffee in advance using the app. To do this, you must be a member of the Starbucks loyalty program. You can find your nearest destination by using the three-digit airport code. Once you place your order, the app will tell you when to pick it up before your flight.
Google Maps
Google Maps is not only an opportunity to get from point A to point B by car. The application is also very useful at airports. If you've ever found yourself in a situation where you weren't sure you could get to a restroom, a store, a waiting room, a restaurant, a terminal, or any other location on time, then you probably haven't used Google Maps.

Navigating airports can be confusing and time-consuming, and if you know how to follow the signs, you probably don't know how long it will take you to get there, especially if you have to use some other form of transportation to get there.
Converter +
If you're at an international airport, you'll definitely need a currency transfer (and other conversion) app. Application Converter + allows you to convert currency, Celsius to Fahrenheit, kilometers to miles, liters to ounces, etc. In addition, you can save your favorites, use automatic updates of exchange rates and other functions.
