Two 13-year-olds were arrested after they threw a metal tube out the window of a synagogue in Brooklyn, accusing one of the seven crimes committed on the basis of hatred.
Both are accused of committing a hate crime for desecrating the Franklin Ave synagogue. near Myrtle Ave. in Williamsburg. Given their age, the future fate of the teenagers will be decided in family court.
Police arrested two guys at their school on Thursday morning. According to the police, their parents were with them during interrogation.
They were part of a group of young people between the ages of 12 and 14 who were recorded by a video surveillance camera around 17: 40. They threw a metal tube into the window of the synagogue and fled. Police did not indicate other hate crimes committed by a group of minors.
Recall that anti-Semitic messages, among which were “Kill All Jews” and “Hitler”, were found on several floors at Union Temple of Brooklyn, which is on Eastern Parkway, near the Grand Army Plaza, in Prospect Heights, a NYPD spokesman said.
No one was hurt in any of the attacks.
Anti-Semitic messages appeared less than a week after a deadly mass shooting at a synagogue in Pittsburgh, which resulted in shot 11 people.
According to NYPD statistics, in recent years, the number of anti-Semitic and common hate crimes in New York has increased.
