Now you can prepare for the exam and get a license as a nurse in the USA using an online course.
The work of a nurse in the United States is considered one of the most popular and well-paid. However, specialists from other countries, even those with an appropriate diploma, cannot work in their specialty in the United States without confirming their education in America. However, licensing is obligatory for those who have already received a nursing degree in the United States. It is to prepare for the difficult exam NCLEX-RN New York School of Private Career School Concord rusam Developed and approved a Registered Nurse (RN) license training course at the New York State Education Department.
Over the 15 years of the program, the school has prepared thousands of students for the NCLEX-RN exam for holders of the “Nurse” diploma. In recent years, not only New Yorkers have come to Concord Rusam, but also residents of other states who are not able to attend lectures directly. To help everyone, the school administration launched online course for NCLEX-RN preparationwhich will help to systematize the acquired knowledge and prepare for the test for obtaining a nurse's license in a convenient mode for the listener. The 160-hour online training program is based on the questions asked in the latest NCLEX-RN exams.
Advantages of an online course
Head teacher Zinaida Freink explains: classes in the usual, "full-time" mode are held on Saturdays from 10 to 6 hours.
«Of course, the lectures are in English, but the teachers take into account that for many students this language is not native, so they make sure that the students have time to learn the material. In extreme cases, some explanations can be made in Russian. However, our students are fully English-speaking, and they really like our approach.“- explains Zinaida.
At the same time, video cameras are installed in the lecture halls, and students of the online program can remotely listen and watch lectures both in real time and then in the recording an unlimited number of times, which is very helpful in mastering complex terms in English and facilitates clarification of obscure points. This is a definite advantage of the online system. The only disadvantage of distance learning is the inability to immediately ask questions to the lecturer. However, as a last resort, there is always the possibility to contact the teacher by e-mail.
Another advantage of the course is that students can start at any time. The school's director notes that new people come every week, and she strongly recommends not to waste time and immediately connect to classes, and skip the missed topics in the next cycle, since this course is held twice a year.
Students of both forms of education are given access to numerous handouts with the only difference that full-time students receive it in the form of printouts, and correspondence materials come in electronic form in advance to give you the opportunity to print the text on the eve of the lecture if you wish. In addition, over the course of six months, students at any time enjoy full access to the entire extensive base of online course resources. For example, 12 lessons include assessment tests, special knowledge test materials, interactive features, links to additional resources, and so on. To facilitate perception, the material is often presented in pictures, tables, Power Points and other concise forms.
In addition, the administration of Concord Rusam has developed and received approval from the Department of Education for the second, accelerated online course. It is designed mainly for English-speaking students or for those who no longer have difficulties with the language, or have received a diploma of a nurse in the United States. Such students are able to master the course faster than others, and no longer need detailed lectures. Those who register for this program have access to all materials, tests and lessons in text form, and prepare for handouts on their own, at a convenient pace.
There is also a computer class in the school, in whose computers there is a large database with questions that can be met in the exam (about 30000 questions). All students, including “external students”, can come at any time convenient for them during the week and study on these materials.
"Pitfalls" exam in the US
Zinaida Freink emphasizes: a prerequisite for admission to the Registered Nurse exam, and, accordingly, for admission to the preparation program for it is the presence of a diploma in “nursing” with the qualification “nurse”.
«This is a very important point, because in the post-Soviet countries there are such diplomas as, for example, “nurse-midwife”, “pediatric nurse”. It seems to people that these diplomas are enough, they send them for evaluation, spend on it two or three years, and as a result receive a refusal"- says the director of the school.
If the diploma meets the requirements accepted in the USA, the school administration provides assistance in the evaluation process, in fact, undertaking all bureaucratic procedures. After recognition of the diploma, the student receives permission to access the NCLEX-RN. Zinaida warns: the requirements of the American exam are very high, and are very different from the post-Soviet countries, so preparation requires a serious restructuring of thinking and additional knowledge.
«In America, nurses have a completely different logic, especially with regard to priority: which patient should be approached in the first place, what needs to be said or asked at the very beginning, what advice should be given. For example, one of the questions: mother comes to the reception to the pediatrician with a small child. What will you pay attention to first of all: on proper nutrition, preventive vaccinations, psychomotor development, etc.? In our system, first of all, we looked at psychomotor development and general health, whereas in America, first of all, we look at whether the necessary vaccinations - regardless of whether the child is healthy or sick. Pharmacology is very different - here, in the case of certain diseases, priority may be given to quite different groups of drugs than we do. A separate group of questions concerns local legislation, and special knowledge is required here. And in general, the training of nurses in the United States is much more serious and deeper."- Zinaida shares her experience.
In addition to training, the Concord Rusam course includes a number of tests that can be retaken. The school principal says with pride: usually 90-95% of school students take the NCLEX-RN exam the first time, and the main secret of success lies only in perseverance.
«If a student really studies the materials prepared by us and passes at least half of the tests proposed in our database, he, as a rule, passes the exam without problems, although many people do not even believe that they could do it. After that, we send them letters of recommendation, help prepare a resume and get a job. Our students have a very good reputation, so employers often call themselves, offering vacancies", - says Zinaida.
If some students still fail when they pass the exam, they can come to lectures again within a year after graduation - and it is absolutely free to re-take the whole course, since NCLEX-RN can be passed an unlimited number of times break at least in 45 days.
Retraining of medics
For holders of diplomas of a doctor, paramedic, nurse-midwife and pediatric nurse, Concord Rusam School provides an opportunity to complete a professional retraining program with a diploma “nurse”. This program also has a distance form.
«This is a longer course, designed for almost two years, with the full passage of the program "nursing". After retraining, we offer graduates a five-month preparation course for the exam. Registered Nurse for free ", - explains Zinaida Freink.
The school administration notes that online course tutorials are available on computers with Microsoft operating systems (Windows 7 or later) and MAC OS L Leopard (10.5 or later). Also, the user will need a stable internet connection, an email account and the ability to view PDF files.
