December 9 US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) officially announced the introduction of the electronic registration process H-1B and the registration deadlines.

On December 6, 2019, USCIS announced the implementation of electronic registration requirements for petitioners wishing to submit applications with an H-1B restriction.

Employers wishing to file H-1B applications for the financial year 2021 must first register in electronic form and pay a corresponding fee of $ 10 for each electronic registration they submit.

According to USCIS, in accordance with this new process, employers seeking H-1B employees or their authorized representatives will complete the registration process, which will require only basic information about the company and each requested employee.

USCIS announced that the initial registration period will begin on March 1, 2020. Employers and their representatives will be able to create the necessary accounts until March 1. USCIS intends to close the registration period on March 20, 2020 and will announce the actual end date of the initial registration period on its website. The agency will then start the process of randomly selecting these electronic registrations. Only those with selected registrations will be eligible to file H-1B petitions.

Re-registrations are prohibited. In addition, although applicants can register several foreigners at one filing, the applicant can only file one registration for each beneficiary in any financial year. If an applicant submits more than one registration for one beneficiary in the same financial year, all registrations filed by this applicant with respect to this beneficiary for this financial year will be considered invalid.

Recall that on January 31, 2019, USCIS introduced the final rule introducing significant changes to the H-1B visa process. The rule added an electronic registration requirement for petitioners wishing to submit applications related to the H-1B limit. It has abolished the order in which USCIS selects petitions according to the H-1B limit and graduation exemptions.
