Why did the United States take on an Azerbaijani from a Russian trolley factory

On the eve of the US Department of Justice officially blamed 13 Russian citizens intervene in the presidential election. One of the defendants in this case was an Azerbajan, who appeared as the head of the “American department” of the “trolley factory”.

As noted, a group of Russians gave themselves in social networks for US citizens using fake and stolen identification documents. On their behalf, they managed the pages and groups in social networks aimed at the American audience, and received money mainly through the payment network PayPal.

The Justice Ministry sums up that the whole group had a common strategic goal - “to sow discord in the society on the eve of the 2016 presidential election of the year”.

Jeykhun Aslanov and another defendant in the case, Gleb Vasilchenko, are, among other things, accused of fraud. They opened accounts with American financial institutions using the data of real people (for example, social security number and date of birth), and also bought real bank account numbers on the Internet in order to use them to verify fake accounts on PayPal. It is also mentioned that the defendants used cryptocurrency exchanges to buy fake documents - for example, fake driver's licenses. Some of these credentials also used personal data of real American citizens.

Aslanov is also accused of having illegally used the personal data of other people.

The fact that the notorious “troll factory” was headed by 27-year-old Jeyhun Aslanov, the Russian magazine RBC reported back in October last year.

It is known that he came to St. Petersburg at the end of 2000 from the Irkutsk Region - to study economics at the Hydrometeorological University. During his studies, he lived in the USA for several months, visited London, which follows from his VKontakte page. However, Aslanov himself then denied any connection with the “factory”.

Recall that the day after the mass shooting at a high school in Florida in the US segment there was a sharp surge in tweets about the free circulation of weapons. Messages sent bots controlled by the Kremlin.
