The top state was South Dakota, followed by Utah, Idaho, New Hampshire and Florida. In the case of New York, something went wrong: it turned out to be the most difficult place to live in retirement compared to any other part of the United States. Even other candidates for “relegation” from the bottom half of the ranking—Arizona and New Mexico—performed better than this state.

Experts also took into account the factors necessary for a happy retirement life. It turned out that people who were forced to leave work quickly or work fewer hours than usual felt worse in the future compared to others - those who were able to get everything done on time and according to plan.

In addition, one of the decisive factors for a prosperous and comfortable life after many years of work turned out to be not closeness with children or living near the beach, but the relationship with your spouse - scientists say that this factor is more important than what you spend money on or how much your family nest is great.
