Why should a TSA agent ask you to get food from your carry-on baggage?

TSA officials have reported that they have not received new rules about the need to get a snack from hand luggage. This is due to the fact that travelers who want to save on additional costs due to overloading the main baggage, put as much as possible in hand luggage.

Because of this, please get food from your carry-on baggage - this is an attempt to classify baggage so that x-ray scanners can better see the items inside the bags.

“TSA officers may ask you to remove certain items from your bag, such as food, powders and any materials that may interfere with clear images from the X-ray machine,” said TSA spokesman Matt Lias.

Due to the limitations of X-ray scanners, President Trump recently signed a decree to allocate $ 64 million for the purchase and testing of new scanners with CT technology (tomography) at airports.

CT technology - long used in hospitals - allows scanners to view the contents of a bag in three dimensions and allows security staff to flip the image on the screen 360 degrees without having to unpack the bag.
