Lottery winner lowered $ 15 million and works as a loader to survive
The guy who broke the jackpot later 17 years was left without a penny for the soul. Now he has become a laborer and works 12 hours a day.
After winning £9,7 million (almost $15 million at the time) in the lottery, Briton Michael Carroll was left without a home or car and forced to earn a living through hard physical labor, says Today.
The guy was lucky to hit the jackpot in 2002. Having received the money, the young man went on a rampage. He boasted that he spent £10 a day, drove around the streets in a Mercedes with the words "King of Chavs" written on it and threw Big Macs and chicken nuggets at passers-by. By 2012, nothing remained of his wealth.
Now the former millionaire lives in Scotland and works on 12 hours per day.
“I carry 50-kilogram bags of coal and chop logs that are sold at gas stations. From six o'clock in the morning to six o'clock in the evening I manage to deliver 150 units of goods. Sometimes they tip me a few pounds, which is pretty funny,” Carroll tells The Sun.
The guy admits that all his millions “evaporated” in just ten years.
“I don’t have a house or a car to call my own. But I don’t regret it, it was easy to get and easy to get lost. I became much happier when I started working again,” says the Briton.
Winning the lottery is not a guarantee of a successful and happy life. Millions of people buy lottery tickets around the world in the hope of getting the coveted set of numbers. Units become famous and rich, but not everyone from the darlings of fate can properly dispose of their winnings. Sometimes winning a lottery leads to a tragic end, as evidenced by the stories of these American “lucky ones”.
