'A big crocodile walked down the street': an alligator was walking on a leash in a Philadelphia park

You've probably heard of some unusual emotional support animals, including the peacock and the squirrel. But what about the alligator? On August 26, some people at LOVE Park in Philadelphia saw Wally the alligator on a leash, reports USAToday.

Wally's host and owner Joey Henney, who lives nearby in York, Pennsylvania, said he brought Wally to LOVE Park to meet the public - likely part of Wally's campaign to win the "America's Favorite Pet Kingdom" award.

Wally was previously mentioned in the media as an emotional support animal who comforted people at senior centers and minor league baseball games.

Wally certainly drew attention as he strolled through the park in downtown Philadelphia, even bathing in the spray of water from the park's fountains.

“We were just walking around LOVE Park and saw this kid playing with an alligator in the fountain,” Britt Miller told the Philly Voice news site. She also documented Wally's visit on Twitter: "Of course there were a lot of people around taking pictures. The girl (who had an alligator) seemed to be with her family who were sitting on the sidelines. They were very friendly. People were touching the alligator, stroking it, stuff like that.”

Henny adopted a rescued alligator about seven years ago when he was just over a year old.

Wally loves to rub his back and cuddle, and has been an emotional support animal for Henny and others, as detailed in a 2019 Associated Press article.

His adventures are described in Facebook и TikTok, where he has over 69 subscribers and Wally's swimming video has 000 million views.
