A zebra named Ed became a celebrity after he escaped from his new owner in Tennessee on May 31. After that, the stallion was seen running around residential areas. The fugitive was searched for more than a week. Finally, on June 8, the zebra was found and captured by the police aviation unit.
"The Rutherford County Sheriff's Office is pleased to announce that Tango 82 Aircraft Unit crews have located Ed and returned him to his owner," the department said in a statement on Facebook.

The stallion was found in a pasture near the Buchanan Estates residential area off I-24. Video footage shows the fugitive being hoisted into the air in a net, with his legs hanging from the spinning net.
"Deputies were on scene to ensure the safety of nearby residents. Ed was airlifted and flown by helicopter to a prepared animal transport trailer," the sheriff's office said.
To bring Ed home, sheriff's deputies worked with the Tennessee Highway Patrol and the state's wildlife agency.
The animal arrived in the village of Christiana on May 30, and the next morning its owner, whose name has not been disclosed, reported it missing.
On June 1, the fugitive was found on I-24 in the area of Joe B. Jackson Parkway by Deputy Ryan Keech.
After receiving a report of a "zebra running across the roadway," the sheriff's office closed the highway and reopened it when the animal "disappeared into the woods."
While the animal was freely roaming the area, its search attracted a lot of attention from Internet users.

According to The Tennessean, zebras are legal in Tennessee because they are a Class III animal, which does not require a permit to own. However, as the Library of Congress notes, "zebras' unpredictable nature and tendency to be aggressive make them unsuitable candidates for domestication."
