Patriarch Kirill encourages the church to go on the social network
The head of the Russian Orthodox Church, Patriarch Kirill of Moscow, felt that the staff of his church did not spend enough time communicating on social networks with “the most active part of the flock.”
“If we do not want virtual reality to become such an atheized phenomenon, we will have to seriously think about how the church today can be present in this world more effectively, more reliably in terms of conveying its message to the world and especially to young people,” believes patriarch.
At the same time, he previously warned followers of his church against “excessive enthusiasm” for social networks. In 2013, the Primate of the Russian Orthodox Church called on monks not to use the Internet.
Kirill, however, has an official page in Facebook.
