JetBlue passengers will be able to ride Uber for free if their flight is cancelled.

JetBlue passengers whose flights are delayed or canceled overnight can expect a more comfortable travel experience. The airline is partnering with Uber to provide passengers with Uber vouchers for delivery to hotels during overnight delays. Writes about this The points guy.

The New York-based airline will offer passengers free Uber vouchers in the event of flight disruptions such as delays or cancellations.

To qualify for the voucher, flight delays or cancellations must meet one of two criteria, specifically when JetBlue is unable to rebook the customer on a new flight until the next day:

• for JetBlue flights that are delayed at least three hours due to a reason beyond JetBlue's control;
• for JetBlue flights canceled due to reasons beyond the airline's control.

In both cases, JetBlue will provide an Uber voucher for ground transportation from the airport to the nearest hotel (and back).

“We are always working to provide our customers with a great flying experience, getting them to their destination safely and on time,” Joanna Geragty, JetBlue's president and chief operating officer, said in a statement. — Sometimes travel does not go as planned and flights may be delayed or cancelled. In cases like these, where an outage is caused by factors beyond our control, partnering with Uber for Business will provide our customers with more convenient options.”

Affected passengers will receive a voucher link via text message or email. Clicking the link will take them to the Uber app, where they will see the voucher in their account. The voucher will then be automatically applied when you make an eligible trip (using an airport as your destination or meeting point).

The program is currently available in all domestic cities where JetBlue operates, and internationally it will be expanded to Paris, London and Amsterdam before expanding to South America and the Caribbean.

“No matter how much you prepare, travel is always full of surprises,” said Susan Anderson, global head of Uber for Business. “Together, we can ensure that even if a trip doesn't go as planned, travelers have an easy, convenient ground transportation option to get them where they need to go quickly.”

New Uber Return a package feature

In addition, Uber has launched a new feature that allows Uber customers to return packages through the app.

Customers can use Uber's new Return a package feature to have a courier pick up prepaid, sealed packages (up to five at a time) and drop them off at their local post office or UPS or FedEx location.

Parcels must be prepaid (with a label or QR code), sealed and ready to ship. Additionally, they must cost less than $100 and weigh less than 30 pounds, subject to additional shipping guidelines as described in the app.

Once the delivery is complete, the customer can track the package in real time in the Uber app, where the courier will send a visual confirmation or photo of the receipt after delivery.

Users access this new feature in the Uber and Uber Eats apps by clicking the package icon in the Uber app or the Return a package button in the Uber Eats app settings.

Uber charges a flat fee of $5 for this service, or $3 for Uber One members. This feature is available to customers in nearly 500 US cities, including Los Angeles, Atlanta, Chicago, Philadelphia, Dallas, New York and San Francisco.
