The passenger of the flight to New York was horrified by the flight conditions: the plane was crammed, half of the people were without masks

A Manhattan resident was flying on an American Airlines flight from Miami to New York's LaGuardia Airport. She was shocked that the flight was overcrowded, with about half of the passengers sitting without masks - and this during quarantine! The publication shared the details New York Post.

On Wednesday, April 22, 42-year-old Angie Wong, along with her husband and two young children, boarded flight 2669, following to New York. The plane was 80-90% full.

Wong put on a surgical mask, face shield and gloves. According to her, the other passengers were noticeably nervous due to the fact that the masks were not mandatory.

Wong noted that social distancing rules are strictly enforced at the Miami airport. However, there were too many passengers on the flight itself, and about half of them were not wearing masks, although a couple of people were wearing protective suits.

She shared several photos showing some passengers wearing masks and gloves, while others refused protective measures.

Wong turned to the airline’s representatives with a question about how it was possible to stay on board an airplane without masks during an epidemic, but in response received a “nothing to do” and an offer to change the reservation.

In addition to the fact that passengers were not required to wear masks on the plane, they were not even measured at the airport, a New Yorker noted.

The woman asked to be seated in an empty part of the plane, but when she got on board, she realized that the plane was almost completely full. At the gate, however, an airline representative said that “if American Airlines sells 150 seats, they will seat 150 people—that’s business.” “We are all learning to adapt to new social norms, but businesses still operate within the old paradigm and need to rely on public safety. I believe airlines should consider implementing temporary policies that are consistent with current federal mandates on social distancing and mask wearing,” Wong said.
