A passenger from Florida pretended to be ill to get a more comfortable seat on the plane: she was arrested

On the American Airlines flight, the passenger demanded for herself a more comfortable and spacious seat, simulating a deterioration in well-being. This led to an emergency return of the board to the Florida airport and the evacuation of the cabin.

A woman who demanded a wider seat on an American Airlines plane is in custody after imitating poor health, which caused pilots to return to Florida airport, writes NBC Miami.

“When the plane was already in the air, she told them that she wanted a larger seat. The pilot declared an emergency... As soon as they sat down, the woman indicated that she was faking a medical condition in order to get a larger seat,” said Mike Wood, Public Information Officer for the Pensacola Police Department.

It clarifies NBC News, the woman lied that she was “having trouble breathing.”

Flight crews called in authorities when a flight from Miami arrived back to Pensacola, from where it initially took off early Friday morning.

Pensacola police spokesman says the plane was evacuated when a woman refused to board. As a result, the authorities and the pilot of the aircraft finally managed to dissuade the woman from flying. She was taken into custody in accordance with state law, which allows authorities to detain a person who could pose a threat to herself or others.

“Because of what she said, she was taken into custody (under the Baker Act). Criminal charges have not yet been filed, but there may be in the future,” a police spokesman said.

American Airlines released a statement:

“Earlier today, the American Eagle 3508 returned to Pensacola due to a passenger who sought medical attention. The flight took off at 5: 43, landed at Pensacola at 6: 26 and taxied to the gate. All passengers landed safely through the gate. Subsequently, the passenger was taken out of the plane by law enforcement officers and medical personnel, and the flight took off again in 7: 41. ”
