Passenger aboard American Airlines was bitten by a poisonous spider

A man from Mississippi sued American Airlines, on the plane of which, he said, he was bitten by a brown recluse spider while he was waiting for 2016 to take off the year.

At the same time, he claims that the flight attendant stated that he was bitten by an ordinary mosquito, and not a poisonous spider, the bite of which can lead to an infection, writes The New York Post.

Marcus Fleming was a passenger on flight number 3978 6 September 2016 of the year when he was bitten by a spider.

“After he was bitten, he warned the flight attendant that something had bitten him, but she replied that it was probably a mosquito. After landing, Mr. Fleming noticed that the bite on his hand became very painful and his thumb was discolored,” the lawsuit states.

Then the doctor told Fleming that he urgently needed an operation, otherwise he would lose his thumb. The man’s claim alleges that American Airlines was unable to maintain a safe environment for passengers, allowing a poisonous spider to bite one of them.

He currently requires a compensation from the airline in the amount of 500 000 dollars.

Matt Miller, a spokesman for American Airlines, said the airline was studying the claims in the lawsuit and investigating what had happened.

“We take the safety of our passengers very seriously, and we are reviewing the allegations made in the complaint,” Miller said.

According to National Geographic, the poison of a brown recluse spider can in some cases lead to the death of the flesh around the wound, this can begin to manifest itself 12-24 hours after being bitten. People may die from his poison, but deaths are unlikely, and more than 90% of the bites of brown hermit spiders heal without serious complications.

Such spiders are commonly found mainly in states such as Texas, Arkansas, Missouri, Kentucky, Tennessee, as well as in parts of the states of Illinois, Indiana and Georgia.
