PACE approved a resolution in which it accused the Russian Federation in financing militants
The Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe has approved a new resolution on Ukraine, which harshly criticizes Russia. In particular, PACE accused Russians of annexing Crimea and financing pro-Russian militants operating in the Donbas, and called for the release of prisoners of war. Reports about it "European truth».
140 deputies from 150 present in the hall voted for this resolution. 7 people voted against (Russian delegation), 3 abstained.
PACE accused Russia of escalating the military conflict in the Donbass and called for "refraining from destabilizing Ukraine, as well as funding and military support for illegal armed groups."
The Parliamentary Assembly also discussed the so-called humanitarian convoys, which the Russian Federation sends to the territory of Ukraine. The international organization stressed that these convoys are not humanitarian and violate international law.
Separately, the resolution refers to “prisoners of war” - Ukrainians who are “illegally held in Russian prisons.” PACE once again called on the Russian authorities to release Ukrainian soldier Nadezhda Savchenko.
According to European Truth, the Russian delegation did not have much support among PACE deputies. Most of the changes that the Russians proposed to make to the resolution (for example, the representatives of the Russian Federation wanted to remove from the document the part that condemns the annexation of the Crimea) gained no more than 20 votes, writes AmericaRu.com
