The paramedic did not recognize her daughter in the girl injured in the accident: she was told about the death of the child at the end of the work shift
Canadian paramedic Jamie Erickson arrived at the scene of a car accident and helped save the life of a teenager. Alas, she did not recognize her daughter in the victim, reports TheGuardian.
When Jamie Erickson arrived at the scene of an accident on an icy section of the Alberta highway on November 15, she found a teenage girl with severe injuries that a paramedic determined were fatal. Due to the severity of the girl's injuries, Erickson was unable to recognize her as her daughter.
Erickson worked for nearly half an hour to get the victim out of the car and stayed with her until the teen was airlifted to the nearest hospital in Calgary.

When Erickson returned home at the end of her shift, she was greeted by police who said her 17-year-old daughter, Montana, had been the victim of the accident. The mothers reported that the injuries were "incompatible with life," and Montana was taken off life support.
“The badly injured patient I just rescued was my own flesh and blood. My only child. My mini me. My daughter Montana,” she wrote to family and friends. “Though I am grateful for the 17 years that I spent with her, but now I am broken and confused. What would you be, my baby? Who would you be? I'm broken. I'm broken. I miss a part of myself. I just have to pick up the pieces and hope that I can live on.”
Speaking to reporters on November 22 in the Airdrie community, Erickson, surrounded by family and colleagues, recalled her cheerful daughter. “Montana was a fighter and fought to the death, and she was beautiful,” the woman said. “She was so beautiful.”
Richard Reid, a friend and fellow paramedic, wept several times as he told reporters about the accident. A car with two teenage girls who were returning from dog walking lost control and was hit by an oncoming truck.
The girl driver was able to leave the car, but passenger Montana was trapped. Erickson was the first to arrive on the scene, and later told her husband that she was very sad because the family of this unfamiliar girl could lose their daughter.
“As a parent and first responder, I can tell you this is the worst nightmare you can imagine,” Reed said.
Erickson wants the world to know about the daughter she lost. “Montana was madly in love with everyone who was her friend. She would do anything for her loved ones. My daughter was a fighter. And she fought, ”the mother emphasized.

Montana was fond of swimming and wanted to go to law school. She gave the "last gift" to those in need.
“My daughter was able to donate her organs and two of her organs saved lives,” Erickson said. “We are very happy that our little girl saved other people after this tragedy. We know that she would like to do this, so we are very proud of her and we will miss her very, very much.
