The couple who collected $ 400 thousand for the homeless said that the money had disappeared
The good-natured homeless veteran Johnny Bobbitt, who helped a woman stuck on the road to Kate McClure, gave her her last 20 dollars to pay for gasoline, lost 400 thousands of dollars that the woman collected for him on GoFundMe.
According to lawyer Bobbitt, this news "devastated" a man, writes The New York Post.
Homeless from Philadelphia received only about 75 000 dollars, a camper and an old pickup truck (the car was released in 1999 year) from 400 000 dollars that McClure collected for him.
The woman received donations from 14 000 online donors who were touched by the story that Bobbitt donated McClure his last 20 dollars for gasoline when she got stuck on the road at night.
Chris Fallon, a lawyer for Bobbit, said the woman told him through her lawyers that the rest of the money had already disappeared.
The lawyer said that this shocked his client, because the money was collected for him.
Ранее Bobbitt accused McClure and her boyfriend of wasting money collected for him, but they replied that they had not squandered these funds, and simply did not want to give him large sums, fearing that he would spend them on drugs, since the man was addicted to drugs.
Bobbitt filed a lawsuit against the couple, demanding to give him the remaining amount, at the end of August the judge ordered McClure to give the money to the homeless man.
It is not known what the couple did with the remaining funds, lawyer McClure refused to comment on the situation.
A spokesman for GoFundMe said that the company is working to ensure that Bobbitt, for whom he collected money, gets everything he needs.
“We are assisting law enforcement with their ongoing investigation. GoFundMe is also working with Johnny Bobbitt's lawyers to make sure he receives support while it works to find and recover the money he is owed,” the company said.
