Parents demanded that their child be transferred to the first class of the plane for free: because of the scandal, the flight was delayed and then canceled

A plane in China was delayed for three hours and eventually canceled altogether after an angry couple demanded that their child be upgraded to first class for free, reports New York Post.

The scandal erupted at 30 a.m. on Dec. 11 after an unattended boy began sobbing in the seat next to another passenger on a flight from Chengdu to Beijing.

As it turned out, the parents of the inconsolable baby were sitting in first class, but bought their child an economy class ticket.

It was then that the boy’s father approached the staff with a demand to transfer his son to first grade without any additional payments.

On the subject: An Air Canada passenger opened the plane's emergency door and fell onto the runway.

His reasoning was that he had already paid for two first-class tickets and should therefore receive a third for free.

Uncontrollable father

The video, shot by a passenger surnamed Zhao, shows the angry father. He berated a group of passengers, crew and security guards who repeatedly told him why his child was not eligible for an upgrade.

“Stop scolding me,” the man said indignantly. “You have no right to do this.”

When the guard tried to de-escalate the situation, the angry father attacked him, screaming.

“What gives you the right to command me?” - the parent yelled at the guard.

The police finally arrived and escorted the rowdy guy off the plane at around 14 p.m., three hours after the row broke out.

Unfortunately for everyone else, the flight was eventually cancelled. This forced about 300 passengers to rebook their tickets.

The airline crew attributed the cancellation to weather conditions, although many suspected that the real reason was the man's hysteria.

“The funny thing is that they don’t recognize delays due to human fault. It is alleged that the cancellation was due to weather reasons,” said one of the passengers.

People online suggested solutions that did not involve the airline giving the man an extra first class seat.

“He could switch places with his child,” one advised. “Let him sit in economy class, and the mother will look after the child in the first class cabin.”

Some criticized the airline for its handling of the situation.

“Draw out the conflict for several hours? — another commentator was perplexed. “The crew have poor problem solving skills.”
