US Attorney General Orders Formal Treason Investigation Against Obama
Attorney General Pam Bondi has ordered an investigation into treason against the Obama administration, while Democrats have accused Bondi of trying to distract attention from the Jeffrey Epstein scandal, reports NBC News.

Attorney General Pam Bondi has directed Justice Department prosecutors to launch a grand jury investigation into whether Obama administration officials committed federal crimes in their assessment of Russia's actions during the 2016 election, a senior Trump administration official said.
(A grand jury is a special form of jury in the United States criminal justice system, designed not to pass a sentence, but to decide whether there is enough evidence to charge a person with a crime. Grand jury sessions are held behind closed doors. Only the prosecutor, jurors, witnesses, and, if necessary, a stenographer are present. The defendant's attorney is not allowed into the courtroom unless called as a witness. A true bill gives the green light to begin a criminal trial. – Note.)

Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard said last month that senior Obama administration officials committed “treason” against Donald Trump and said she had filed criminal complaints with the Justice Department.
A former senior Justice Department official called the effort “dangerous political theater.” And a former national security official noted that several previous reviews, including some by Republicans, had found no wrongdoing.
"There is no logical, rational basis for such actions," said the official, who asked to remain anonymous.
A senior Trump administration official said there was no firm timetable for grand jury proceedings and the trial could not begin for several months.
The letter, signed by Bondi, instructs an unnamed federal prosecutor to begin presenting evidence to a grand jury for possible federal indictments, the source said. However, the letter does not specify what the individuals would be charged with, who would be investigated or where the grand jury would meet.
A Justice Department spokesman declined to comment.
Democratic lawmakers have accused the administration of trying to distract from the Jeffrey Epstein case. Conservative media and influencers have criticized Trump, Bondi and FBI Director Kash Patel’s handling of the case and demanded more documents be released. Democrats dismiss Gabbard’s Obama-era conspiracy claims as false.
Yet last month, Trump posted an AI-generated video of himself smiling as the fake Obama was arrested by FBI agents in the Oval Office and taken to jail.
A bipartisan 2020 investigation by the Senate Intelligence Committee debunked the idea of an Obama administration conspiracy against Trump, finding compelling evidence of Russian interference in the 2016 election. Then-Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla. and the committee's temporary chairman, signed off on the report.
The committee found no evidence of “collusion” between the Trump campaign and Russia, Rubio said at the time. But he added: “Nevertheless, what the committee found is deeply troubling. We found overwhelming evidence of Russian interference.”
The grand jury plan is the latest move by the Trump administration to seemingly rewrite the history of the 2016 election. Democrats say Trump is abusing the levers of state power to retaliate against his political opponents and expand his own powers.
Trump and his supporters have long alleged that intelligence and law enforcement officials sought to denigrate his first term by exaggerating the extent of Russian interference in the 2016 election and investigating possible collusion between Trump associates and Moscow.
They accused former FBI Director James Comey and former CIA Director John Brennan of using the investigations to harm Trump.
Comey's lawyer did not respond to a request for comment. Comey and Brennan, who now works for NBC News and MSNBC, have denied any wrongdoing.
The intelligence community's analysis of the 2016 election and subsequent government investigations have left neither the far right nor the far left satisfied.
Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation found that Russia interfered in the 2016 election to hurt Hillary Clinton. But it found no evidence that the Trump campaign colluded with the Kremlin, as some on the left had alleged.

At the same time, Special Counsel John Durham, appointed by Trump in his first term, has disappointed far-right activists with the results of his three-year investigation.
Durham found no evidence of a criminal conspiracy among Obama administration officials to fabricate information about Russia's actions in 2016. He did not bring charges against intelligence officials who participated in the 2017 assessment that Russia tried to influence the election in Trump's favor.
