First person: travel notes about Hawaii

My husband, two children and I went to Hawaii in September. We chose the island of Maui for our vacation. We rented a condo here right on the beach - it’s not quite an apartment, but not a hotel either. Big one bedroom room with a living room, a balcony, a kitchen and a huge bathroom. On the territory there is a swimming pool, cafes, a pond with fish and a barbecue area, where on the day of arrival we were preparing the first Hawaiian dinner overlooking the sunset and to the accompaniment of waves. And on arrival we were greeted by a rainbow right in the window.
We immediately fell out onto a huge balcony and admired the views, breathing thick, thick air.
We flew flight Hawaiian airlines. Great service, comfortable planes and right in every seat USB-output. Considering that I constantly make videos to make a film about our Hawaiian holidays, the opportunity to charge the phone on the plane was very useful.
In general, the flight was excellent. Although the optimal time in the sky for kids of our age is still 4 hours. In this situation, no one goes mad, does not jump over the heads of the neighbors, and everything costs a little blood.
This was our last flight when we did not buy separate seats on the plane for our children. Of course, a trip to Hawaii precisely on these dates (before the kids’ second birthday) was a pre-meditated cunning plan. Because if you can avoid throwing $1000 down the drain and spend it on new air tickets, then why not take advantage of this opportunity.
The first thing we did after arriving was take a rented car and go have lunch at the so-called “first place we came across.” In general, this is the most difficult moment for me in all my travels - trying local food. Here I ordered mahi-mahi fish and spat it - very dry and almost tasteless. Of course, it came with some kind of sauce (purple!), more like jelly, but, naturally, I didn’t even try it.
The children in the cafe staged something incredible. At first they threw pipes, then poured water all over the table, scattered bags of sugar, one of which, of course, broke and scattered on the table, sofa, floor. But the children did not stop at this - they began to throw cups, including the neighboring tables. Five minutes after our arrival at the cafe, it seemed that we were on some ruins. 🙂 Then they completely climbed onto the table and tried to tear a chandelier from the ceiling, which hung ill-conceivedly low. In short, it’s not for nothing that we usually don’t go to a cafe, otherwise we would have already ruined to pay for the damage caused by children.
Fortunately, after lunch the children fell asleep, and we drove to the hotel in peace and quiet along an incredibly scenic road. I wanted it not to end!
By the way, the children’s behavior after checking into the room did not change much - they tore the TV remotes to pieces, turned on the water in the bathroom without stopping and called all the phones they knew.
And we also have fans in the rooms on the ceiling. And Martin in one of them, working, of course, threw a pen that flew off the ceiling and because of this a little plaster crumbled. In general, the holidays began actively 🙂
After settling, we naturally first went to the beach.
Beauty is unreal !!! And heat!
And in general the whole area is just super!
In order to avoid repeating the lunch story in a cafe, we decided to have dinner in the barbecue area right next to our building. We stopped at the store opposite, bought all the necessary products and settled down on the ocean shore. While her husband was grilling steaks, Eric meditated on the fish pond, and Martin meditated on the gym with balls. They are so different, my kids.
The evening was spent under the setting sun and the sound of the waves.
And then, for a long time, everyone bought together in a huge hotel bath and went to bed when the clock was still showing baby time.
One of the days of our holiday in Hawaii, we decided to go to Haleakala National Park. Then for the first time in my life I visited at an altitude of three thousand meters. We walked between the clouds, admired the Martian landscapes, met the birds uncle and stunned by the plant ahinahina. In general, it was more like landing on Mars. See for yourself.
From the place where we lived, the volcano is located about three hours by car. So we thought for a long time whether we should really go there. Not that our children love long car travels very much. But the decision was made, and, adjusting to the first children's sleep, we set off.
The road was unreal beautiful!
And I liked these local road signs in Hawaii from the very first day. We don't have these in California 🙁
Due to the fact that the volcano is high-high above sea level, the road to it, or rather the weather conditions along the road to this miracle of nature, changed every hundred meters. We got both thick fog, rain, and clouds — more like cotton candy, which we wanted to touch and pinch off a piece.
In fact, two viewing platforms are waiting for you at the very top. We started from the top one and saw from it the one that was to be introduced a little closer a little later.
In view of the ideal weather on the island and the desired height, it is not surprising that the observatory and telescopes are located here. One of which is almost four meters in diameter!
As you might guess, we could have really wanted to watch the stars, but the main travelers were much more interested in collecting local pebbles.
I was hovering over this very cute creature - ahinahina. It seems that the name of this plant could well be a local curse, not ?!
Do you know how often we meet parents of twins? Everyday. Some of them made this funny photo. But I will tell about it somehow separately.
In the meantime, it's time to move on to the next point. It was there that we met another of the island’s inhabitants – birds. uncle. Small, agile and absolutely fearless.
Actually, we made a stop here not for bird dating, although it was the nicest. An incredible beauty trail departs from this point, on which I refused to walk. Generally, I am not one of those who don’t like to walk, but I didn’t want to walk with fifteen kilograms as a bonus that day. And I sent Ruslana to walk alone. He resisted for a long time, but went on reconnaissance. And while we were waiting for his return, my son first landed on a volcano

Of course, I wanted to see it with my own eyes. Therefore, Ruslan insisted that we should go there again all together. It is tempting, but fifteen kilograms ... in short, I chose comfort and said that I would not go anywhere. In general, I do not consider myself to be obedient wives. Rather the opposite. And I consider it my dignity. But when the husband asks very much, I do not want to refuse him. We hit the road.
And I even managed to take pictures along the way 🙂
What can I say - this is an awesome place!
And for maximum pleasure it is worth taking a walk longer. But you remember about 15 kg. Therefore, we walked, but not very far, which in principle did not affect our impressions.
It's like another planet. I often think that when I am not responsible for preparing travel entertainment - and I often am not, thanks to my beloved husband - every day is a big surprise for me. And this day is one of the brightest of our entire week in Hawaii.
On the very first day of the holiday, I was very badly burned and went wrapped from heels to the top all week long, as a result of which I didn’t have a single beautiful photograph from Hawaii, and all my dreams of daily photo shoots in bright dresses broke on the aloe-vera bank that I was recommended smear in the local pharmacy. In truth, it did not help at all. But agree, this photo is quite a nothing.
By the way, the children were also satisfied with the walk - one could run into plenty of red Martian land, traces from which they didn’t really want to wash off.)
But for the beauty seen and the rainbow that came to our departure, we forgave all these places:
My husband, as always, was right - I liked what he was bent over to me. And I especially love him very much for perseverance. It is thanks to her that we have been together for seven wonderful years. It's only the beginning.
It's time to celebrate this crazy day on your favorite beach, accompanied by one of the most beautiful sunsets in my memory.
As a small conclusion I want to say this. Of course, even if you are with small children and do not like long walks, Haleakala National Park worth a visit. The main thing is to be well prepared: you will need warm (in some places very warm) clothes and comfortable shoes; You will also need to take water and food with you. Well, don’t forget to charge your camera :)
