Oscar is guaranteed: Leonardo DiCaprio will play Putin

Actor Leonardo DiCaprio gave preliminary consent to the performance of the role of Vladimir Putin. This was reported on Tuesday, February 2, by two sources close to the film’s producer, Knightsbridge Entertainment (an independent filmmaker registered in the UK and having offices in America, Europe and Asia).

The film project is already on the company's website, as well as on the iMDB movie database. On both resources, the project is called Putin, and next to the title it is indicated that the picture is in development. The producer of the project is Mark Damon.

One of the top managers of Knights Bridge Entertainment, Valery Saaryan, representing the interests of the company in Europe and Asia, confirmed that Putin has been working on the film for the past year, and the final version of the script is now being approved.

Saaryan did not disclose additional details, saying that three authors worked on the film’s script, and the director’s name was “widely known”. Several stars of Hollywood of the first magnitude are involved in the casting of the film, Saaryan explained, but a company representative also refused to disclose their names before filming.

DiCaprio has already given preliminary consent to the leading role. Filming will begin in the spring of 2016, and will take place in Russia, America and Europe. The release of the film is scheduled for spring 2017 year.

According to a company representative, the film’s genre is a political thriller with facts from the life and work of the president, who is on top of world politics. “From a KGB officer, the prime minister to the president. A spokesman for the head of state, Dmitry Peskov, did not comment on the information about the film, saying that he did not know anything about it. According to sources, Putin knows that the Americans are going to make a film about him.
