A hospital in Ohio sent two employees on administrative leave after a patient received a kidney transplant intended for another person. Writes about it USA Today.
Officials at the University Hospitals in Cleveland apologized for the incident and said the patient who received the kidney “is recovering as expected,” the organ is human-compatible.
“We have sincerely apologized to these patients and their families,” the statement said. - We understand that they have entrusted us with their lives. The situation is completely incompatible with our commitment to helping patients live life to the fullest. ”

The operation to transplant an organ to a patient who was supposed to receive a kidney initially is postponed. The hospital said the incident happened “recently,” but declined to provide further information.
University Hospitals said the incident was being investigated by both "external agencies" and "internal experts."

"University Hospitals will take the necessary steps to prevent this error from happening again," the company said.
A health spokesman notified the erroneous operation to the Joint Organ Sharing Network, the organization that operates the national transplant system.
