Survey: Americans want to tax millionaires in 70%

The idea was supported by 62% women and 55% men. According to the survey, 45% Republican voters said they would approve such an innovation, while 55% were against such a measure. Such a plan was also supported by 60% independent voters and 71% democratic voters.

Ocasio-Cortes responded to the survey results by posting on Twitter.

"Oh? What is it? "Most Americans respect you when you come up with common-sense policy proposals to combat income inequality and help fund the priorities they value most?" she wrote.

In her speech on the TV show, Okasio-Cortes told about tax rates that were in effect in the 1950 and 1960, when the richest Americans were taxed at a rate of more than 90%.

“This doesn't mean that the entire $10 million is taxed at an extremely high rate, but it does mean that as you climb up that ladder, you have to contributeоgreater contribution,” she said.

In particular, we are talking about 70% tax levied on that part of the income of millionaires, which exceeds 10 million dollars.
