Bloody massacre: 23 people killed in a bar in southern Mexico in a shootout
On Tuesday night, August 27, in the Mexican city of Coatzacoalcos, an attack on the El Caballo Blanco bar occurred.
After an attack on the establishment using Molotov cocktails, a fire broke out. As a result, 23 people died - 8 women and 15 men. 13 were seriously injured.
The bar is located on a busy shopping street in the city, whose main industry has long been oil and oil refining.
The Governor of Veracruz, Quitlahuac Garcia, suggested that the attack involved conflicting criminal groups.

Police, military and the newly formed National Guard track down the attackers and find out the circumstances of the incident and the causes of the fire.
Almost eight years have passed since the day when 52 people died in a casino fire in Monterrey. The drug cartel launched an attack in 2011 to secure claims for protection payments.
This attack, along with the killing of 19 people in the western city of Uruapan earlier this month, is likely to renew fears that indicative public violence in the 2006-2012 drug war has returned.
