'They're shooting there, run!': In North Carolina, 2 people died in a shooting in a municipal building

Two people died and two were injured in a shooting in a municipal building in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. According to city police, the incident occurred on the morning of Friday, December 20, writes Fox News.

Winston-Salem City Manager Lee Garriti said in an email that two municipal workers were killed and two more were seriously injured, but not life-threatening.

The representative of the city of Winston-Salem, Ed McNeill said that there is no constant threat to the city.

66-year-old janitor Dwight Black said that he had parked his car and was planning to enter the building with the help of a card, when people started screaming past him.

“They shoot there. Run! ”- running people shouted to Black. The man followed suit.

“I did not know what happened, so I just moved to a safe place until I found out what was happening,” he explained.

Black ran to his car, like the others, and drove off to a safe distance. Before the arrival of the police, a man watched the development of events.

He added that he was “a little numb” after the shooting.

“Everyone was devastated. It's a hard day, ”he said.

After a while, many police cars arrived at the scene. Workers in the reflective clothing worn by city wipers stood in the parking lot and talked to each other. The situation outside the building looked calm.

Herbert Martinez told local news outlets that an employee ran out and said someone was shooting in a building east of the city center. Martinez added that he remained in his pickup truck and heard shots.

City officials promised more information about the situation at a press conference.
